Craftzine!

http://craftzine.com/

I’m excited, I subscribed today.  I had to call up to ask them which was my next issue.  The subscribe page shows issue 6 (which I just bought) but it says issue 7 is current so I’d of started with 8 I think. So I called, I think she’s got it set now so I get #7.  I hope.  It’s a great magazine, I love it.  I think I’ll make one of the skirts, maybe to wear in July.. maybe.

Etsy

Well, I had intended to come and say there’s some new kittens available over at Etsy!  There are still some, but three just sold (yay!)

I’ve just listed Molly, and I have a few others to list.  They are left over kittens from before winter set in hard.  I’ll be making new ones as soon as the days are more consistently warm.

I’ll list a few more kittens over this weekend and upcoming week.  Maybe, if it stays warm.. I’ll actually make some new ones too.  Like I mentioned over on my shop blog, I’ll be changing the format of the family trees.  Right now the listed kittens don’t feature a family tree.  They are part of a family but I just don’t have the energy to build up the charts right now.

Plus, it’ll be warm more often and I’ll spin some wool.  Wahoo!

Groundhog Day!

Yeehaw!!!

It’s groundhog day!!!

It’s sunnier today than it’s been in a couple weeks.

My buddy Phil, you know.. the groundhog?  That little booger-eater says it’ll be six more weeks of winter.  I see how it is.

But today, if I get the energy up for it.. and you wouldn’t think it’d take much but man I can hardly move lately bleh.  I’ll make cupcakes!  Groundhog day Cupcakes!

Waaaaaaaahooooooooo!

I think it’s always sunny on Groundhog Day isn’t it?

Stinky and Jane on Etsy, Sunday

I’ll be listing the very last two cats of the Back Alley Family on Sunday, January 6th.  (at Etsy) They’ll be listed as a pair for $20.00 plus shipping costs.  After they are sold there will be no more kittens in the Back Alley line.

A third family line is being started with the next round of kittens.

Busy day

Today I spent time working on custom orders from Etsy.  I had 8 cats on order, plus Buggy sold too straight from the shop.

That leaves Cammy from King Street and then a pair of kittens named Zippy and Zoey from Back Alley.  When Zippy/Zoey sell, the starter two kittens Stinky and Jane get listed.  I haven’t decided yet if there will be more cats on King Street, if not.. then that’ll be Cammy left before the starter two.  I’ll see how I feel tomorrow about it haha

They’re boxed and just waiting on postage!

The mailman took my SCAN form today.  I stuck two boxes in the mailbox at our house with a SCAN form, and this afternoon.. all of it was gone.  So the boxes got mailed but I’d of rather he left me my form.  Maybe he didn’t have his scanner or something.  Tomorrow I’ll write on there “Please leave my SCAN form!” and see what happens.

I’ll write my address on it too so they can drop it off maybe if he takes it hehe

I have a class tonight in Second Life on building cat ears and tails smile In a bit I’m debating about going to either a New Player Q&A or a Freestyle building class, or neither of them.  I dunno.  The building sounds more fun but the Q&A might be a good thing to attend.  I just don’t have any questions at the moment but I figure I could learn from other questions, just afraid they’ll ask stuff like “How do I get land?” and “Where can I get a house?” all stuff that if they read the FAQ at SL’s site they’d see the answer.

I learned how to send IM’s in game yesterday haha.  I teleported away from a girl I was talking with and felt so bad.  It took me 15m to figure out how to send an IM,I had to google it.  It amazes me that I can’t find any manual for this game.  Where is it?  Okay maybe I should go to Q&A and just ask that haha Ask, say thanks, and leave to go read it in my own time.

So I finally messaged her and apologized for vanishing and explaiend why it took so long to respond.  I just know she was annoyed with me haha She had just given me an item too, I said thanks and vanished ugh.  I felt bad.

Today, the mailman redeemed himself

Today:
I was not wanting to kick him in the shin.
I did not want to poke him in the eye.
I did not think that he was crappy.
I did not wish him to get many papercuts and then spill salt water on himself at lunch.

Today, he redeemed himself for all the dorky things he’s done every time I ship boxes.  I didn’t get annoyed with him, which I always feel guilty about but dang it.. every other time he’s just so frustrating when I mail boxes.  Not today!

Today, he scanned my SCAN form, stamped it, took my boxes and I was out of there in less than 30 seconds.  That made my day so much better.

He didn’t give me the run around about postage, or about my SCAN form, or about my boxes, or about scanning each box and making a receipt only to void it and blah blah blah.  No siree bob the cat, he did not today.  Nope.

Thank you Mr. Postman, you rock!  Today at least.

My socks that rock.

Dyed two socks from the drawer, they don’t exactly match even before being dyed.  Two different brands but that’s okay.

I folded them opposite on accident, so the yellow is at the heel on one and the toe on the other.

I plied again!

Easy peasy lemon squeezy, my friend!

I hooked up the leader, started to spin counter clockwise and bam.. suddenly… I was done.

No hang ups!
No unscrewing of the whorl!
No rage building!

I’ll try again and make sure this holds.  I think I need to spin with the largest whorl and then ply with the middle whorl.  I have no idea what the smallest one is for, but I’ll try it out some day.

That fixed it.  I changed whorls and I plied like I knew what I was doing.

My bobbins are empty and tomorrow I’ll spin some more roving smile I have some Alpaca from Sunrise Fiber Studio that just arrived this week.  Soon some from TwistofFate (both at Etsy) arrives, it’s already pre-dyed oooo.. can’t wait.

My socks

My socks they are the kind that rock.

I just rinsed the pair of socks I dyed to test the color brightness, they’re great!  In a bit I’ll toss them in with some towels and see how they wash up.  They’re beautiful works of art.

Unfortunately, they did not dye the same.  Almost!  They’re actually opposite.  Toe is yellow on one, ankle is yellow on teh other.  I thought I rolled them the same, clearly I did not.  That’s okay though.  They’re a matched, mis-matched set.  I love them.

I can’t wait to wear them!

Tomorrow I’ll rinse out the bags and get them in the wash.  If the socks are this pretty, the bags must be awesome too.  I didn’t think the socks would work.  In addition to buying white shirts I think I’ll buy a couple bags of socks too next time we’re out.  The last bag I bought the ankles were done wrong so they are a real pain to get on, so I’ll have to test the socks stretchiness.

Everyone needs tie dye socks.

Tie it, and Dye it!

I knew this would be a bit of work but I forgot to take into account the fact I wear out so fast.

I’m exhausted and all I’ve done is roll and twist and rubberband down the tote bags.  Yesterday and today I watched a lot of YouTube videos on how to tie dye.  There seems to be two main guys on YouTube.  One who does his tie dye on a table that he walks around then uses squirt bottles then rinses in the sink/washer, and the other guy uses plastic boxes of dye to dye his shirts and hoses them off out in the lawn.  Both do such neat shirts.  The lessons are great too.

27 tote bags, some Dharma Trading reactive dyes, some soda ash..  I’m having at it.  Taking a break though.  I soaked the fabric for about two hours to begin with, then I just finished twisting them and that took about two hours.  Then I noticed one of my socks ended up in the sink because I had washed all these totes yesterday to pre shrink them.  They shrank quite a bit!  Grrr.

So when I sorted laundry apparently a sock was still in one of the bags.  Oops.  To solve this problem, I went and got another clean sock to toss into the sink.  I’ll dye up a pair of socks and see how it goes smile

The bags are tied all kinds of ways, accordion, a few twists, some rolled up, some wadded up.  Some just folded at random.  I’m tired now and my arms are worn out and my hip and knee are like screaming “WHY DID YOU STAND THERE SO LONG!?” and I’m all, “I don’t know.”

Then I tossed them back into the sink of soda ash and water because I am too pooped to dye them now.  I’ve got dye mixed up, no idea how much I need.  I have 8oz of three colors mixed.  Hopefully that’s good, if not I’ll mix more then.

This is exciting.  In a while I’ll set up my dye box.  The one guy’s video used a box with newspaper and what looked like a pan cooling rack.  We have one of those!  Yippie.  I have a box.  I have no newspaper but I do have other paper I can cram in there to absorb the drips.

I need to rest though.

I plied!

Comment at Flickr

This is spun up roving from LucysPostcardQuilts, from a trade we did smile Elsewhere here in my Flickr is the unspun ersion

I PLIED!

I plied, I plied, I plied!

On a spinning wheel.  It took me near around two hours to do this.  Two bobbins, plied.  Till the end when I ran out of singles on the one so I just navajo plied the rest.

But I did it.

Don’t know how.  I had a LOT of trouble but I had less trouble than last week, when I could not ply at all!

I think the problem is that the bobbin and the flier are moving at the same rate counter clockwise more often than if I spin clockwise.

Not to mention the whorl comes unscrewed, that is so irritating.

I plied smile

YesireeBobtheCat I plied!

Hey, hey… hey.... *poke poke nudge* HEY!  I plied!!  Yeah, I did.  Me!! smile

Me me me me.....

I plied.

18 cats in a circle

Comment at Flickr

This is the special order I’ve been working on for a few days.

KMKiefer ordered 18 cats.  Thank you!

Most are kitties she’s fostering, one has already found a new home (Gracey) and if I remember the emails right, two are actually her own kitties. smile

In no particular order, here are the names:  Mamma Mia, Maggie Mae, Gracey, Odie, Honey Bear, Mathilda, George, Coco, Nessy, Meezer, Benny, Phillip, Dorry, Mickey, Mouse, Lil’ Brudder, Sarah, Ralphy.

Before the kitties get a final wrap and boxed up, I’ll go through with my husband’s help and get photos of each one.  I have most of them photographed alone but I think the first batch of five still need pictures.

These kitties head out later this week!

Tie Dye!

Yippie!

The bags from InGreetings.com and the dye from Dharma Trading both shipped today.  Spectacular!  I bought rubberbands, a couple squeezie bottles to go with the other two I have, I have gloves..  dude.. I’m set.

I’ll throw down some saran wrap and have at some tie dye soon.

Another 5 kittens of the 18 are approved.  Only 8 more to go smile Siamese cats were kind of tough, but I think they’ll be easier in the future now that I’ve done a few… several… like 9… ehehe.. 5 were for her order though, the rest were extras so I could pick out the closest matched ones to her army of cats.  Finished up an order for Gizmo, a custom black and white kitty too that’ll ship tomorrow.  Tomorrow I’ll do another batch of 5, maybe finish all 8.. we’ll see.  Plus another order for an orange and white kitty for another person.  Yay!

Busy busy..  more busy than I ever expected to be over kittens.  It’s fun smile

I need to clean house though.  It keeps raining so I need to mop the area around the front door again tomorrow for sure.  With all that digging those dweebs did out front, we keep tracking dirt in even with the door rug there ugh.

The other day.. um.. Saturday I guess?  Walmart had all their stitching stuff on sale.  All of it.  Even the Aunt Martha iron ons.  I bought four packets, yay.  Trying to remember.. two were definitely cat themed, I think one is jungle animals and I forget the last already.  That’s sad, I just got them and I don’t remember.

I blame it on the fever.  My fever keeps going up the later it gets today, not feeling so great.  Hopefully some sleep will fix it and then I’ll be good to go tomorrow.  I feel okay I guess compared to last week though, just my head hurts so bad from the fever.  At least my nose isn’t leaking and my throat doesn’t hurt!  Could definitely be worse.
.
Today I ordered some roving on Etsy from Sunrise Lodge Fiber Studio.  I’ve never spun any alpaca before.  Check her sold stuff, I bought the 4oz brown alpaca.  I can’t wait.

I still can’t ply, I can’t get this stuff off the bobbin so I can spin more.  It hacks me off still.  Seriously I do not know what is up with that.  I didn’t try today though, tomorrow maybe I’ll give it a shot. Dude, really.. how hard can this possibly be!?  Maybe I’ll call that one bed and breakfast up, maybe they’ll live up to their name and actually know how to spin.  They do have a cruddy old spinning wheel on their veranda.  Maybe someone in there knows how to ply.

Maybe I’ll brave up and just slap a notice up at the post office and say “Help, please!” Meet them at the post office some afternoon with my spinning wheel and that’d be so funny.  Spinning in the post office smile

It hacks me off that I can’t figure this out.  It’s tough trying to get what the books are saying.  There’s a trick or something, maybe my wheel isn’t set up right.  I think I might write the Jensens, I just hate to bug them over something dorky like this.  It’s not the wheel’s fault, so that’s why I haven’t wrote them.  I should just suck it up and write and maybe they can help hehe.

Maybe.

My fever is making me feel like crap, goodnight!
